Fun w/ Google

Have you ever wondered what boredom would like like if he was walking around downtown? No? Just me? Well if it looked like an internet post, it would look MUCH like this one.

I got a case of the giggles playing a new game with the Google search auto-fill.  I can't tell you how they generate the 8 or so phrases that come up when you start typing - but I'm hoping it's an algorithm of popularity.  "Why can't I own a canadian" - Best. Question. Ever.  (Thanks, Joyce)

Enjoy! Feel free to send me your own and I'll add them to the post

My personal favorite:

How come a cupcake isn't a mineral

Not included due to too many vulgar phrases also in the list.

Time Lapse Love

There is almost nothing I love more, well, at this moment, than a good time lapse video - essentially, filming in one stationary spot for a period of hours, or days, then compressing it down to a minute or so.

I saw my first over at http://www.vancityallie.com/, my absolute favorite blogger ever.  She also puts together amazing snowboarding videos, which she edits herself, and I always discover a new band. But enough about my girl crush, whose life I would steal from her in a heartbeat if that kinda thing were possible. Or legal.

Below are my favorite vids, starting with one by Van City Allie herself.  Oh, and try not to get bored. I save the best for last! (No, it's not of me doing the arm dance).

Conspiracy Haiku Giveaway - WINNER!

Excellent guesses, my good friends. Well, except the large contingent of folks that think Roswell, NM is in Arizona. But hey, the mind plays tricks.

Without further ado, I will announce the winner and below that I will explain the conspiracies. Thanks to EVERYONE for participating... my cold little ol’ heart has been warmed =)

Winner of the 2010 Conspiracy Haiku Giveaway??

FAKED UP LUNAR LANDING

"Various Moon landing conspiracy theories claim that some or all elements of the Apollo Project and the associated Moon landings were falsifications staged by NASA and members of other involved organizations. Since the conclusion of the Apollo program, a number of related accounts espousing a belief that the landings were faked in some fashion have been advanced by various groups and individuals. Some of the more notable of these various claims include allegations that the Apollo astronauts did not set foot on the Moon; instead NASA and others intentionally deceived the public into believing the landings did occur by manufacturing, destroying, or tampering with evidence, including photos, telemetry tapes, transmissions, and rock samples. Such claims are common to most of the conspiracy theories."

Do I believe it? I agree with Matt - that is one conspiracy that would have to run DEEP. Tens of thousands of folks had a hand in that mission, and I'm sure they didn't ALL meet untimely deaths. I...don't think.  But I will say this, the race to the moon was THE singular most important task on the U.S. to-do list at that time. The Cold War was nearing its zenith and beating Russia, at everything, was of paramount import.  I'm not saying I believe we have never landed on the moon...but I wouldn't be surprised if it is one day revealed that it DIDN'T happen on July 20,1969.

THE LEGEND OF YETI (BIGFOOT / SASQUATCH)

Same creature, different names - dependant on geographical location (in case all the names confuse you). As an archaeology major, I spent many an hour in class learning about the origins of humans. I had the amazing opportunity to study in France for a summer in the Dordogne Region, where the area's caves and rock shelters are known for their rich fossil record of both Neanderthals and early modern humans.  My professor – Dr. Mann (I kid you not) and I got to discussing Bigfoot one day and he had an extremely intriguing theory that I’ve never been able to forget, and one in which I strongly believe.

In the foothills of the Himalayan alpine regions of Northern India, Bhutan, and Nepal, there are thick rhododendron forests that are impenetrable to the ordinary citizen. I suppose one could go in with bulldozers or various other modes of destruction, if allowed, but there hasn’t been much of a reason.  It was Dr. Mann’s theory that in these thick, dark forests, (where time stands still, and environments do not change, thus NOT necessitating adaptation and mutation) that the Yeti resides – in reality, he is a vestige of early man: squatty, powerful, hairy and barely bipedal. When he has been spotted, he is traveling over the mountains to, well, get to the other side.

THE JFK ASSASSINATION

JFK. Ohh, JFK…how I obsess over you and your untimely death at the hands of so many nefarious hands. Of all the questions one could ask God if they got one chance, I would absolutely waste mine on this mystery! “Back, and to the left” - a phrase made famous by the Zepruder film, it describes the way in which JKF fell when the magical bullet pierced his skull on November 23, 1963.  If Mr. Oswald took his infamous shot from behind him the book depository…

Want to read more? HIGHLY recommended is Jim Garrison’s book “On the Trail of Assassins.” Oliver Stone based his movie on its pages, and it details Jim’s journey as the only attorney to ever successfully bring the murder to trial.

WHAT DID FDR KNOW ABOUT PEARL HARBOR...BEFORE IT HAPPENED

Many people believe that President Franklin D. Roosevelt knew about the attacks on Pearl Harbor prior to the Japanese blitz on December 7, 1941.

“President Roosevelt provoked the attack, knew about it in advance and covered up his failure to warn the Hawaiian commanders. FDR needed the attack to sucker Hitler to declare war, since the public and Congress were overwhelmingly against entering the war in Europe. It was his backdoor to war.”

USS ARIZONA, PEOPLE! USS ARIZONA! I really thought that would be the easiest one =)

Freemasons, Templars and Illuminati - OH MY!

They’re essentially all the same and I would hazard a guess that no other conspiracy has gotten quite as much ink (or binary code) as that of these groups and their New World Order. When I discovered Wikipedia, I’m pretty sure I spent most of 2002 researching this topic. It. Is. Endless. And yes, they are ALL connected…

Wanna know more about this subject? Say goodbye to a year of your life. Have fun!

Month of 1000 Changes

Maybe not 1000. But the hyperbole is definitely representative of how it FEELS.  Most changes have been good, some...odd....others - BLESSINGS. I've never been one to shy away from change, which is evidenced by the eight different lives I've led in other cities since I left the nest. But I have to admit - stability is looking "mighty fine" as my beloved Kromsies would say.

All that's to say - I've been a much worse blogger than I intended. But I guess that's par for the course when you create something to stymie boredom - total DUH that Murphy is going be a cotton headed ninnymuggins and send a tidal wave of chaos into your life.

So.  I will be better. I promise. Starting tomorrow =)

NME Clothing

Two very good friends of mine just launched a BLOG for their screen printing business here in Nashville.

They are definitely a Mom & Pop, but large enough to accomodate orders of 1,000+.  As far as we know, they are the lowest prices in town AND on the interwebs.

They take orders from all over the country - so, to my friends scattered across the U.S. - if you need t-shirts, hats, totes, hoodies, etc with your own logo or design, or someone else's - please give them a chance!!!!

Find more information about NME and how to order:

Mix Tape of Lurve

Well, Mix CD to be more accurate. I made one for friends this Christmas but was HIGHLY vexed to discover that iTunes only lets you burn seven cds of a playlist that includes songs purchased in the iStore. iPissed. Big time. Because frankly, this CD KICKS BOOTAY. Seriously. It's awesome. SO, if you feel like doing some of the work, I've done most of it for you already. Would love to know if anyone actually does think it's as good as I do =)

Oh, and the special cover art means something only to four other people on this planet.

So just roll with it.

8 + 15 Observations on Lost – Through Season II

To protect those who may watch the seasons all at once, as I am, please highlight the below field to reveal the list.

1) When Sawyer’s trying to be coy, his smile makes him look like a creepy woman.

2) It wasn’t until about episode 43 that Kate’s white shirt got dirty and she finally found a rubber band to tie her hair back.

3) A LOT of people get punched in the head with fists, ends of guns, ax handles, big sticks, etc., and are fine within five minutes. I stub my toe and I’m down for at least a day.

4) Claire’s voice is what I would choose to torture the Gitmo inmates. And I’m sorry, but doesn’t the humidity EVER give her breakouts?!

5) Why does that papaya look SO damn good?! What does it even taste like? I don’t know, but I want some.

6) Peannuttt buttttteerrrrr mmmmmmm.

7) Just looking at John Locke’s face can make me weep

8) John Locke looks less like a pedophile without hair

9) Apparently, if you’re being chased by, say, polar bears or carnivorous ghost smoke, you can run at mock speed through the jungle and never trip or get closelined by jungle weeds, but if you are the one doing the chasing, you trip immediately, and always land on an object of interest.

10) Vincent is the bizomb.

11) That is the wettest dang rain I have EVER seen.

12) Apparently, you can roam around an island the size of, say, Hawaii, and always find “that tree” from “that day” when you had “that adventure.” Just like that. I get lost at Publix.

13) When the doc showed Hurley the photo where he was hugging nothing, even though he THOUGHT he was hugging Charlotte’s husband from Sex and the City, it was like BLAZOW! Did NOT see that coming. Most excellent.

14) Could the other survivors of the middle section of 815 BE more worthless? All they do is amble around the camp and attend funerals. They don’t even have button pushing shifts!!! They bug.

15) Um, why in the WORLD didn’t Sun run off with the English tutor hotel owner? Hooooot. I’m hoping that’s in Season III.

16) Am I the only one that noticed how freakin FAST Walt can type? Either it’s not him (which is my guess, which makes Michael REALLY stupid, which I already know to be true) or the director is a dillweed.

17) It pains me to think about Kate and Charlie together in real life.

18) Boone AND Shannon dying? Yes please, thank you.

19) IF YOU DON’T WANT JACK TO BE IN CHARGE, STOP ASKING HIM TO MAKE DECISIONS!!! Idiots.

20) Ok, so, Arzt blew to pieces by handling the dynamite with kid gloves and talking in soft gentle whispers…a few minutes later, Locke and Jack were blazing through the jungle with it bouncing around in their backpacks. I guess it was just Arzt’s time.

21) Do you know how many DUI’s Michelle Rodriguez got while filming? Like, 20.

22) The theatrical beard glue and pre-dirtied hobo clothes? HIGHlarious.

23) And finally…did you know that 8 + 15 = ……23! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Adieu.
